Spice Girls: Raw Spice DVD

The DVD of the Spice Girls unofficial documentary which showcases their time with their original management Chris and Bob Herbert, is now available on DVD. I posted this documentary awhile ago but I'm sure it's gone by now. So you can own your own copy today. In addition, The Spice Girls Live at Wembley Stadium performance from the Spice World Tour which was previously released on VHS, will be released on DVD in the UK October 6th. It is already available for pre-ordering through Amazon.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it gets released everywhere else.

Poll Results # 20

I knew I'd make it to 20 someday. Not a bad turnout for last weeks poll, I actually expected to get 3 votes but it got more than that (10 to be exact). So, the question was, After watching the Who Do You Think You Are video, which one of the Sugar Lumps do you think did the best imitation of their chosen Girl? Here come the results, in order of most voted for...

Jennifer Saunders As Geri (with 50% of the vote)

Kathy Burke As Melanie C. (with 30% of the vote)

Dawn French As Victoria (with 20% of the vote)

Lulu As Emma (with 10% of the vote)

Llewella Gideon As Mel B. (with 0% of the vote)
Awesome, thanks to everyone who voted. Jennifer (seen up top with the lovely Melanie C.) would have been my pick too (if I had voted). Good times. This weeks question will probably sound a bit stupid, but I want to know which Victoria hair style is your favorite? Vote Away.

New Tour Dates Confirmed

The information in my previous post from yesterday about the new tour dates has been confirmed by the official website. Good luck getting tickets, I think I may have to get a ticket for the third Toronto show. Is that nuts to see them three times? I saw Madonna three times on her Re-Invention Tour since it was the first time I had managed to see her in concert, so I think since this is the last time they are performing together my actions will be justified. All of the shows listed go on sale this Saturday @ 10 am.

New Tour Dates

The Spice Girls have confirmed two new tour stops and there are many a rumour about a few others that may hopefully be added.

Let's discuss the confirmed dates first. The following dates have not been added to the official website, but they have been confirmed and have a placement on the official websites of the venues they will be played at. These dates are...

February 16th, 2008 @ Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan.

February 18th, 2008 @ Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY.

Why they didn't plan concerts at Madison Square Garden to begin with is a mystery to me, but I guess it's nice that they've chosen to go to Long Island or Paramus or where ever the hell they're going as well. Both of these shows go on sale on Saturday.

Now the rumoured dates (some of which I'm personally excited about) are...

January 31st, 2008 @ Bell Centre in Montreal

February 19th, 2008 @ Wachovia Centre in Philadelphia

February 21st, 2008 @ Verizon Centre in Washington

February 25th, 2008 @ Air Canada Centre in Toronto, On. (could this be true?)

February 29th, 2008 @ Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City

If they're adding another date to Toronto, I will die. Cross your fingers everyone.

Headlines Is A Real Secret

I feel duped. After hearing all the news and seeing all the pictures of the the Girls performing Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) at the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, the performance was not apart of tonight's television broadcast. What the hell is that? We got two doses of Seal but we only got to see the Girls 1940's military inspired rendition of Stop? Does that seem justified?

As spectacular as the performance was, I was looking forward to seeing them in their gowns for Headlines. It better leak onto youtube otherwise we're S.O.L. I'm quite disappointed lol.

Merchandise Craze

Be sure to have your money ready and get to the venue early if you are attending a show on the tour. At Sunday's premiere show in Vancouver the merchandise was reportedly flying off the shelves with some of the items selling out completely.

An employee at the General Motors Arena told the official website that they had not seen anything like it, the crowd was consistently 20 people deep with fans jumping up and down screaming when they had their purchases in hand.

Many fans have been waiting for this moment since the Spice Girls hit the scene in 96 so you may have to bring your "last minute Christmas shopping" attitude if you want to get what you really really want.

Reunion Tour Set List *Spoiler*

Don't read ahead if you want the set list of the tour to remain a surprise til you go see them yourselves. If you're like me though and just can't resist peeking then read on and enjoy. By the way, I won't be adding any fan made concert footage. I do believe somethings should be experienced first hand and I really don't want to spoil that aspect of the show.

Act 1: The Power Of 5

Spice Up Your Life
Stop
Say You'll Be There
Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

Act 2: Seduce Me
Lady Is A Vamp
Too Much
2 Become 1

Act 3:

Who Do You Think You Are (ft. Victoria)
Are You Gonna Go My Way (ft. Mel B.)
Maybe (ft. Emma)
Viva Forever
Holler
It's Raining Men (ft. Geri)
I Turn To You (ft. Melanie C.)

Act 4:

Let Love Lead The Way
Mama
Celebration Medley
Goodbye

Encore:

If You Can't Dance
Wannabe
Spice Up Your Life (Reprise)

So as it turns out, Victoria has opted out of singing a song from her solo career. Deciding instead to put on a mini fashion show with her strutting the runway while the Spice Boys act as paparazzi. Also, instead of singing a song from either of her two solo albums, Melanie B has chosen to do a cover version of Lenny Kravitz' "Are You Gonna Go My Way".
Interesting.

Reunion Tour: First Night

Wow, there is so much to post I don't know where to start. The reviews are in and the overwhelming conclusion out there is that the girls have triumphed with their first concert in nearly 10 years at the General Motors Arena in Vancouver last night.

The Toronto Star quoted it as,

"...easily one of the best productions to grace an arena in years — a spectacular, sensory feast of a show that went off without a hitch."

The Girls arrived early at the venue to hold a press conference with the international media who had swarmed in for their debut performance. David Beckham was also on hand to lend Victoria and her mates a well deserved good luck, presenting each of them with a bracelet to commemorate the occasion.

As the performance hour drew nearer they all huddled together in a pre-show ritual of jumping up and down and screaming, reported their official website.

Their next show is in San Jose on Tuesday.

Here are some links to reviews of last nights show.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 10

The end of the girly chat. It's amazing how much foreshadowing there was in this documentary, and that all of their individual personalities were there even then. So for those of you who thought that the Ginger, Sporty, Baby, Posh, and Scary labels were a gimic....think again.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 9

The whole of the song "Take Me Away" from the showcase day and a bit of a one on one girly chat with each of the Girls. Victoria's singing voice is actually quite impressive on this song. She has a tendancy to quaver when she sings usually, but here she is really well put together.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 8

The Girls rehearsing the songs We're Gonna Make It Happen and Take Me Away. Very 90's.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 7

Bonus clips of the Girls from the Raw Spice documentary. Basically moments of the Girls in rehearsals uninterrupted.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 6

Geri was not to be underestimated and is clearly not someone to mess with. The fact that she tracked down one of the producers at the showcase and convinced him to help them find new management because Chris and Bob were moving to slowly for their liking is pretty damn impressive. The Girls knew what they were destined for and how to get there more than Chris and Bob did so they made it there themselves.

Now, here they are reuniting. Amazing.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 5

Showcase day. The day when the different music writers, and producers were invited to come meet the Girls and witness them in action. The girls still haven't been signed to a contract.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 4

I think Geri could have been their manager. Watch as she speaks her mind when Chris Herbert says that he's afraid that she's going to turn them into a fluff group. The other Girls roles are also firmly established. Emma is very much the baby, Mel C is the peacemaker, and Victoria is scatty and sexy.

Notice how Geri says Melanie C brings a lot of "spice" to the group.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 3

Take a look into the Girls bedrooms, their closets and a few of their fights. Geri and Melanie B really showcase themselves as the leaders of the group.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 2

The second clip of Raw Spice shows the Girls living together in a small house in Maidenhead, and we also see how passionate Geri was even at the beginning.

Nostalgic Spice: Raw Spice Part 1

It's about 6 hours until the Girls hit the stage for the first show of the Reunion Tour and I thought it would be fun to take a look at how it all started for our Fab Five.

This is the first clip (of 10) of the documentary "Raw Spice" which features the Girls meeting each other for the first time to form a Girl group which would have been known as Touch. Chris Herbert and his father Bob placed an Ad in the Stage newspaper looking for Girls who were ambitious, streetwise, outgoing, and dedicated. I bet he never would have guessed how ambitious this lot was.

Reunion Tour: First Pictures

This is it Spice Fans! The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. Tonight marks the first time the Girls have performed in concert as a five some since Geri left us high and dry in 1998. All eyes will be on the General Motors Arena in Vancouver as Girl Power makes it's triumphant return. The Girls landed in Vancouver yesterday and headed straight to the venue to run through a full dress rehearsal, and someone was clever enough to take pictures of it.

Speaking on board the Spice Jet, Geri confessed to thespicegirls.com, "I'm not nervous, just really, really excited."

While Emma added "I think it will hit me on Sunday. But I can't wait to get on stage."

I know it's about 2 months until I see them in concert, but hot damn these pictures make me wanna zig-a-zig ha! British morning show GMTV will be doing a report on tonight's show and featuring it on air Monday Morning, so be sure to tune in to that.

Poll Results # 4

Wow! I guess that was a stupid question to ask lol. Here are the poll results from this past week. The question was, Which single from the "Spice" album has the best music video to accompany it? The results in order of most voted for are...

1) Say You'll Be There (with a staggering 61% of the vote)

2) Wannabe (with 22% of the vote)

3) 2 Become 1 (with 11% of the vote)

4) Who Do You Think You Are (with 5% of the vote)

5) Mama (with 0% of the vote)

Okay so, nobody likes the video for Mama and everybody friggin loves the Say You'll Be There video lol. That's really interesting to me, I thought 2 Become 1 would have won this one. Let's see, in that case for this weeks poll I want to know which action star name given to each of the Girls for the Say You'll Be There video is your favorite? Vote away. Any feedback on the polls is welcomed and appreciated, are you getting tired of them? Do you have a question you'd like to see answered in the poll? etc.
